This four-bedroom home is both bold and elegant in design with instant street appeal. The house flows beautifully, both structurally and aesthetically, from front to back. On entering, the large open plan living room with a cantilevered mezzanine level and overhead voids offer an expansive welcome to the home. From the main living areas, the striking views over the outdoor pool area provide the wow factor.

The use of natural elements like stone and timber, combined with modern black powder-coated aluminium windows and cladding, make this home a spectacular mix of the old with the new – an exceptionally sophisticated residence packed with high-end and unique quality architectural finishes. The Ashton display home offers an inspiring interpretation of the Scandinavian barn style, its sheer size and striking exterior making it a memorable addition to the seaside town of Port Elliot, South Australia. The expansive single-level layout stretches across the landscape, with the bedrooms adorning the wings and the centralised living spaces connected together under soaring, pitched ceilings and highset double-glazed windows. Beautiful, character-laden features, from the enormous stone walls to the French-laid travertine tiles, contrast with the dramatic kitchen island, charcoal joinery, and American oak dining bench. Despite the extensive open plan, areas for quiet reflection can be found in a charming bay window seating nook and an inviting loft platform above the lounge room, which provides sweeping views of the surrounding countryside from its high vantage point. Amazingly built, and finished with great innovation, the Blackbutt timber lining boards contrast perfectly with the dark steel portal frames and roof/wall cladding and complement the solid “Basket Range” sandstone frontage feature walls. This home is a true representation of innovation using lightweight materials, resulting in a one of a kind, highly energy efficient, architectural farmhouse. (excerpt from HIA website)
